Crystal Gunderson is the founder of Commission Youth Camp and currently serves as the chairman of the board of directors. As a student, Crystal felt challenged to share with others the great joy she found in serving others in the name of Christ. She started Commission in order to show students how impactful they could be in their own communities and to teach them that their service to God need not wait until they are older. Crystal’s additional duties include acting as regional camp director and international missions team leader. Her career and volunteer activities are also centered on student development as she teaches high school Social Studies and serves in the youth ministry at her church. Recently, she has taken on a new challenge and is developing and applying curriculum for women’s discipleship groups in order to inspire other women to invest in the lives of students and peers within their sphere of influence. Crystal currently lives in Meridian, Idaho with her husband of 9 years and a quirky spaniel named Abby. She loves cooking, crafting, and Starbucks Coffee and she is always up for a board game with her family.
Rose Plympton is the Treasurer for Commission. She has worked with numbers most of her life, first in banking for 22 years and then becoming The Elmore County Treasurer/Tax Collector where she has served the citizens Elmore county for 15+ years. Rose has tried to share the love of Jesus as a preschool worker and director, as a youth worker and director, serving on women’s ministry teams and National Day of Prayer Community Chairman. Her passion is prayer and her family. She is married to her best friend of 27 years and currently lives In Mountain Home, Idaho where Commission was founded. In addition to her responsibility as a board member, Kara Kasper is a real estate agent for Impact Realty, a volleyball coach at Eagle High School and most importantly a wife and a mother to an outstanding family. With 5 years experience in corporate marketing for Smucker's and a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing & Management from Cornerstone University, Kara's desire to work with people is combined with her business experience in the real estate market. The way Jesus served his community in a practical way is something that Kara has tried to implement in all areas of her life, which is why Commission is so close to her heart. Through real estate, coaching, and hopefully every area of her life she tries to imitate Christ by serving the physical needs of people she is in contact with in addition to their spiritual needs. As a result of this passion, Kara has implemented an annual event at her local church called "Bundle Up Boise" where people in the church community donate warm clothing to the refugees that are new to the Boise area to help them prepare for winter. She currently lives with her husband, who is the youth pastor at their church, and their son in Boise, ID , but will always be an Ohio State fan at heart. Go Buckeyes!!!!
I grew up with an Air Force pilot for a father. While this had its challenges, it also gave me the opportunity to travel the world and experience lots of cultures. This diversity has helped shape who I am today. I love literature, classical music, and people of all kinds. My love of literature and the written word helped develop my heart for discipleship. The more I studied, the more I wanted to teach. The more I wanted to teach, the more I wanted to see people grow. This was one of the reasons I fell in love with Commission. It only took one day to know these kids were in a special place to learn. I loved watching the Commission process throughout the week. What an ideal place to allow my passion to come alive. My background in business and leadership comes from 17 years of running a retail store with Family Christian Store, 2 years as an elder in my local church, and over a year running my own company publishing books. I look forward to seeing how I can pour into the Commission team.
Ted was blessed to be able to “get in on the ground floor” with Commission in 2000, while stationed at Mt. Home Air Force Base as a young Lieutenant. Despite spending the last couple of years overseas, he remains passionate about Commission and stays involved as much as possible despite the miles. In addition to serving on the board, Ted also helps his wife produce the Commission Bible study every spring and travels back to Idaho to staff camp as often as circumstances permit. Still on active duty with the Air Force, Ted is currently serving in Naples, Italy and keeping busy by volunteering with the base chapel praise band and leading the local AWANA club. He is father to seven amazing children, who all teach and stretch him in new ways. Ted is an avid snowboarder and hockey fan, teaching his sons the finer points of rooting on the Colorado Avalanche no matter where they live and taking advantage of every opportunity to catch a game or hit the slopes together.
